I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I haven't cleaned my fridge for really long time. It's not for lack of desire, maybe it's lack motivation, not enough time, well - excuses. But today's my shopping day, the day I menu plan for the week, the day I refill my fridge after a weekend of feasting. And I realized: an empty fridge is the best fridge to clean!
As part of my family's commitment to organic and natural living, I knew that my Castile Soap would be the only cleaning supply (plus a few rags) that I would need to tackle this job. I decided to break down the steps, of cleaning my fridge, to make this chore seem less daunting:
STEP 1:
Get together rags, garbage bags, and your Castile Soap. Of course, the perfect recipe can be found in my e-book! Here's the recipe that I made to clean the the entirety of my fridge:
1+1/2 cups of warm-hot water
1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol
1 teaspoon of castile soap
Add all ingredients into in a spray bottle.
STEP 2:
Empty the items in your refrigerator and put them on a counter or table while you clean. Take out shelving, drawers, and any other removable parts.
STEP 3:
Spray and wash shelving, drawers, removable parts and interior fridge walls with Castile Soap mixture water. Dry with a clean towel.
CASTILE TIP: Be careful about using hot water with cold glass shelves. It may be better for them to sit at room temperature first before washing with hot water.
STEP 4:
Once surfaces are dry, replace the clean shelves, drawers, and other removable parts back in the refrigerator, along with the other items you took out. Now's a great opportunity to organize your fridge and throw away expired or undesired food!
CASTILE TIP: You can use the Castile Soap to wash the outside of bottles and jars too! Don't forget to dry them, or they could be slippery!
STEP 5:
Use your Castile Soap mixture to wipe kitchen counters that held food, drinks, the outdoor doors of your refrigerator!
It took just about an hour for me to clean my fridge and freezer from top to bottom, from the inside out. Nothing feels as great as unloading groceries into my clean and organized fridge! Looking to purchase Castile Soap? It's available exclusively through our Amazon store!
