My Dear Readers,
For me, Spring cleaning means ushering in the warmer weather by putting away the winter quilts, washing my windows and getting carpets cleaned. Once Memorial day arrives, it's time to focus our attention on the neglected outdoor spaces and refresh them so that we can enjoy our patio and small garden spaces. We will be entertaining this weekend, so I wanted to take a moment to share how we prepare our outdoor spaces for our guests.
Patio & BBQ Cleaning Recipes with Castile Soap
We'll be hosting a bar-b-q on our patio and our grill, patio furniture and even some of our outdoor toys have been covered all winter. To begin, I made a huge bucket of diluted Castile Soap. I used a rag and attacked the chairs and tables with our popular dishwashing recipe (1/2 cup Whole Naturals liquid castile soap to 1/8 cup water.) This time, I didn't use any essential oils, because the run off goes right to a small grassy area, and I didn't want to unintentionally harm any plants. I couldn't believe how much grime accumulated over the course of the winter!
The grill posed more of a challenge, as we did not do the best job cleaning it before the winter. I'd like to present to you one of our best BBQ Cleaning Recipes with Castile Soap. The first thing we did was to slightly preheat the grill. (don't forget to add the oven mitts to your ingredient list!!)
Games & Activities
Free from harmful chemicals found in conventional bubble solutions, Organic Castile Soap is not just for cleaning and cleansing! This year, we're setting up a bubble station where the kids (of all ages :) can enjoy making and chasing bubbles using a mixture of water and Castile soap. (1 Tablespoon soap with 1/4 cup water in a small container).
For the first time ever, we're going to try a DIY slip-and-slide!! We have these long tarps and we'll cover them with a solution of water and Castile soap. We are really hoping that these activities bring laughter and joy!
Gift Giving
The last item on our checklist was preparing our guest room. While we love the "hotel" feeling of complimentary shampoos and soaps, we are trying to be more eco-conscious about adding more plastic to landfills. This year, we are creating our own soap-sampler. We thought that the combination of lavender and lemongrass would reflect the essence of summer. We filled reusable containers with our homemade soap and will be placing them in our guest bathroom.
Every Memorial Day we are reminded of the sacrifices made by our servicemen and servicewomen. Let's appreciate those who served our country by enjoying our freedom. Embrace the goodness of organic Castile soap and make this Memorial Day a memorable and sustainable occasion for all.
Cheers!
P.S. Send me an email to let me know if you'd like for us to share our favorite vegan BBQ recipes!
