Keeping New Year's Resolutions without the Lists

New Year's Resolutions with Whole Naturals Castile Soap

Dear Resolution Warriors and Cleaning Enthusiasts.

Let's start by being real - making a laundry list of New Year's resolutions is not only overwhelming, but can lead to abandoned goals after the first week of the year. In fact, the feeling that a calendar date can all of a sudden motivate us to do a full 180 and change habits and lifestyles is a sure recipe for failure. Yet, each year, without fail, we talk about our "lists" and very quickly, we forget these lists. Is there a better way? Can we keep those resolutions without drowning in a sea of unrealistic expectations? Let's talk about some practical and achievable strategies. No Lists.

The Power of One New Year's Resolution

When our family decided to transition to a plant-based lifestyle, we did not do it overnight. We focused on ONE decision: incorporate more plant-based foods into our daily life. This way, we did not feel this immediate - and potentially frustrating change. Throughout our first year, we took baby steps -it took about 2 full years. Once we looked back on our first year, we realized how the gentle and gradual changes felt less daunting. They were easier to accept, maintain and sustain.

Baby Steps and Small Wins

Now, let's tackle the resolution itself. Break it down into manageable steps. If your goal is to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle with the help of Whole Naturals Castile soap, start by swapping out conventional cleaners with their organic counterparts. At the same time, pick a practical action like using castile soap for your hand washing needs, then give yourself a pat on the back. for doing it. Acknowledging progress fuels motivation and keeps you on track for the long haul. Changing a small routine will be more sustainable and less likely to leave you feeling overwhelmed.

Cultivate Consistency

Consistency is key. Make your resolution a part of your routine, like brushing your teeth or brewing that morning cup of coffee. Want to prevent having a mound of laundry that feels impossible to conquer - equal to summiting Mt. Everest? Create a dedicated time for your new habit. Put it in your calendar. Give it a set date and time to be incorporated into your routine. Consistency transforms resolutions into lasting habits.

Find Your Tribe and Make it Enjoyable

Share your resolution journey with like-minded individuals. Whether it's joining online communities, attending local eco-conscious events, or simply chatting with friends who share similar goals, having a support system can make a world of difference. When it comes to Castile Soap - there are so many resources, you might even discover new tips and tricks for incorporating castile soap into various aspects of your life. If you can associate fun feelings with your new resolution, you may be more likely to keep it as part of your routine. We just received an email from a member of our community who told us that while they love citrus, they decided to try lavender essential oil when making a batch of laundry detergent. This small change enhanced their entire experience.

Keep It Real

Was Rome built in a day? Your new habits won't be either. Keep your resolutions realistic. It's okay to evolve and adapt your goals as you progress. The aim is to create lasting change, not to check off boxes on a list.

Resolutions are not a sprint but a marathon. Life happens, and sometimes we may face challenges that throw us off course. Instead of abandoning ship, learn from setbacks and adapt your approach. I find myself regularly reflecting on my journey, and sometimes I need to reframe my mindset. Instead of a resolution being a "RULE" I look at it as a guideline for personal growth.

When I take a quick look at last year's resolutions, I think of what worked, and what didn't. By focusing on one achievable goal, breaking it down into manageable steps, and incorporating practical strategies, you can turn your resolutions into habits that stand the test of time. Remember- it's about the journey, not perfection.

Cheers to a year of practical, achievable, and sustainable resolutions!
